9The first step was to visit Tbilisi. The first thing to jumped out to me was the very modern aspect of the city mixed with the antiquated. There are big parks that are very clean with modern infrastructures, but nearby we were on untarred streets with bad houses in ruins. The war with Russia, over 3 years ago, left some scars in the landscape. There were bullets in the walls, and houses destroyed by bombs, but also scars in the people’s minds too. It didn’t take me long to realize that the population was afraid of Russia and they were traumatized by the events. The next day I was going to a big plaza to find a marchroutka to go to the Khazbe- gi mountain. It’s a bit of a mess, the driv- ers were screaming everywhere to attract the clients, who move from one van to an- other. All the destinations are displayed on the front of the vehicles but everything is written in Georgian, a language with its own alphabet. I was going from driver to driver to find out which marchroutka I should take. Once I found it, I was on my way.
