After the first day at the beach I had already photographed so many people. Then I sat in my hotel room looking at the pictures and thought, “Oh my God this is totally unexpected”. I was super excited to go back there the next day and see if this was really going to happen again.Each day at the beach was fun, but it got harder and harder, because so many people already knew us. I would ask someone for a photo and they would say, “No, no, no. You took me yesterday. What, you don’t remember me?” Then I felt embarrassed, because they thought I’m supposed to remember them. They all remembered me, but I couldn’t remember them, and they were wearing a mask.I think this experience has changed my perception of China. I have been to China a million times and it’s a very hard place to travel. I live in China, but the Chinese are very hard people. This was a really good experience for me to get deeper inside the chinese culture.70
