The villagers were interested in my work. After building relationships with them, I was asked whether I wanted to go and see another traditional ceremony. I was invited to a circumcision day. It was the following month, so I left the bride and groom to start their family life. Returning to Istanbul, the vast differences in the way of life became vivid. The journey took seven hours by car, but the closer I got the more special and unique the minutes became. Upon arriving the villagers were pleased to see me and they were even more excited to see the wedding photos from the month before. Zeynep, whom I had grown close to during the wedding ceremony let me stay with her family. It felt like I had never been away from the village. She talked me through the circumcision party that was going to take place and explained it can be painful and embarrassing for the boys.24
