45Life on the river slows you down. Time changes and bends in strange ways, and your internal clock is reset. You wake with the sun pulled along by the current. You spend your days watching the riverbank slide pass as green jungles morph into terraced gardens of small villages. People on the riverbank tend to their gardens, wash their clothes, and emp- ty their catches from wooden boats as chil- dren swim and playing in the river.
