After five peaceful days in the countryside I decide to go to the south, to Vardzia which was a troglodyte city of the 12 th century. The city is old, dirty, disconnected from eve- rything and surrounded by mountains. I walk in town beside the unhealthy houses and abandoned vehicles. The people were star- ing at me. They must not have been used to seeing foreigners in town. In a street full of burned trash, dogs were fighting.I was looking for a place to spend the night and was introduced to a guy who rented me a room for 2 euros per night. In the room there were six beds bonded to each other with just enough space to pass between. There was also a fridge that didn’t work. On top of the fridge there was a television with just one russian channel, in front of which I fell asleep.29
