In the Ukraine I met Grinkers that were so welcoming and sunny. I started interviewing a young guy and I asked him what is it like to meet another Grinker, because for me it was always amazing. He said to me, “Some people wonder if there’s life on other planets, but I’ve always wondered if there are other Grinkers on this planet.” Then I appeared, all the way from the United States of America to the Ukraine, and his question was answered.My Ukrainian family invited me to stay with them. It was all great, but if you stay with family you get involved with whatever family dynamic they have. They all tried to feed me and it was more challenging to be there and do my photography work, because they were so excited that I am family and they wanted to get to know me. When my time is limited that is really tough. I don’t have the money to go back to see them again, but I know if I went there tomorrow, they would welcome me with open arms.81
